The circular route winds through Arkalochori's scenic countryside, passing picturesque villages, olive groves, and vineyards in the heart of Crete. This international event includes routes for all ages and features over 40 music points with traditional and international tunes to energize and accompany participants throughout the race.

The town’s name comes from the Cretan word for "badger" (arkalos), a nod to the area's natural heritage, even though badgers are no longer found here.
